Vocabulary
1. chandelier - noun - a branched often ornate lighting fixture suspended from a ceiling
2. inherit - verb - to receive from a parent or ancestor
3. baptize - verb - to give a name to (as at baptism); to christen
4. ferocious - adjective - extremely intense; fierce; savage
5. laundromat - noun - an establishment with coin-operated washing machines and dryers for public use
Figurative Language
1. simile - a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing using like or as to make a description more emphatic or vivid
2. metaphor - a figure of speech involving a comparison between two things that are otherwise unrelated (doesn't use like or as). With metaphor, the qualities of one thing are figuratively carried over to another.
3. personification - a figure of speech that is used to attribute human characteristics to something that is not human
